Poetry on a Sunday Afternoon

Reading a lovely ghazal, on a slow Sunday afternoon, listening to Complicated Heart.

...I don't know what you're thinking
To me it seems quite tough
To hold a conversation
When words are not enough...

Hamaare dil pe jo zakhmon kaa baab likhaa hai
The chapters of hurt that you've written on my heart

Hamaare dil pe jo zakhmon kaa baab likhaa hai
Usii main vaqt kaa saara hisaab likhaa hai

The chapters of hurt that you've written on my heart
Are the ones with the calculations (expenses) of my life

Kuch aur kaam to ham se na ho sakaa lekin
Tumhaare hijr kaa ek ek azaab likhaa hai

I could not do any other work except
Pen down each pain of your separation

Suluuk nishtaron jaisaa na kijiye ham se
Hameshaa aap ko ham ne gulaab likhaa hai

Don't treat me with daggers drawn
I've always written you a rose

These lines are lovely.

Tere vajuud ko mahsuus umr bhar hogaa
Tere labon pe jo ham ne javaab likhaa hai

Your existence (conscience) would experience for a lifetime
The answer I've written on your lips
